Chainlink has unveiled Data Streams, a real-time market data service delivering live U.S. equities and ETF pricing to 37 blockchain networks. The August 4 release enables decentralized applications to access low-latency feeds for major assets like Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), and SPY—bridging traditional finance with on-chain trading.

The infrastructure leverages decentralized oracle networks (DONs) to validate and timestamp data from multiple sources, allowing smart contracts to execute with institutional-grade precision. Timestamping mechanisms automatically halt trading during market closures, mimicking regulatory safeguards of traditional exchanges.

This development lays groundwork for advanced financial products including tokenized securities, synthetic ETFs, and decentralized perpetual futures—potentially accelerating institutional adoption of blockchain-based trading systems.
